The Craft Center managers took a trip to the Yolo County Wool refinery located between Davis and Woodland. The facility is unique because it will process small quantities of wool. It is the only available option for the independent crafter wanting to get raw wool processed into a usable form. Raw wool splattered on the top of a carding machine.
Most of the machies used in the factory are from the turn of the century.
This wool is carded and ready to be spun. The tour guide stated that the sheep lived in unkempt fields as evident by the grass hulls found in it.
 Angola waiting to be spun
This factory would take raw wool and process it fully into yarn.
